I love Christmas. I love the decorating and I love being able to put a huge smile on my kids face when they open their presents. This year Lailah wanted a smart tv, Uggs, vinyls, and a new phone (and of course other misc. items), Alex wanted a few video games, but the main gift he wanted was a customized controller for his X box. Who knew that was even a thing. Aria didn't' ask for anything lol. She was happy playing with boxes. Anyway Sonya text me to make her the $250 Neiman Marcus cookie. I had actually heard about these cookies before but I guess I didn't pay much attention to it. I looked up the recipe and the story behind the cookie is so cute. It is a legend that is almost 70 years old.
The legends says a woman was eating at Neiman Marcus cafe and ordered a cookie for dessert. She loved the cookie and asked for the recipe. The waitress said the recipe would cost "two fifty." When the woman received her bill she noticed the recipe charge was $250.00! She was so upset she decided to get revenge and emailed everyone she knew the recipe so they could have it for free. This story is supposed to be completely false and there are are a couple of versions out there. The cookies came out perfect and were delicious but after a while they did get hard so I'm sure I did something wrong. I placed some in a canister for Sonya but Carlos threw them in the trash ( I guess he thought they were too hard to eat lol) so poor Sonya did not get her cookies BUT I will make them again just for her.

Here is the recipe, if you make them please let me know they turned out. I look forward to making them again. NOTE: I cut the recipe in half because this will make a lot of cookies. It took me about 45 minutes from start to finish.
INGREDIENTS:
5 cups rolled oats
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups unsalted butter, at room temperature
2 cups granulated sugar
2 cup light brown sugar
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
24 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
8 ounces milk chocolate, grated or finely chopped (I used a Hershey bar)
3 cups chopped walnuts
Preheat oven at 375 degrees. Line baking sheets ( this will be enough for three baking sheets) with parchment paper.
Blend your oats to a fine powder. Place in large bowl along with flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, chocolate chips, grated chocolate, and walnuts. Mix together.
Using your mixer cream your butter and both sugars. Add your eggs, vanilla, and then slowly add your dry ingredients until fully mixed together. Roll into balls, place two inches apart and bake for ten minutes. Remove and allow to cool to your preference and then enjoy!
